Staci’s memoir, “Love Makes Room", about coming to understand and affirm her daughter’s gay orientation in the context of her Christian faith, is now available to pre-order on Amazon and other places books are sold. “Love Makes Room” is an accidental guidebook and companion for other parents and loved ones of LGBTQ people struggling to make room for new ways of thinking about this topic.
Synopsis: When our daughter Abby came out to us at 16, I couldn’t have been more surprised. We were a Jesus-loving, church-going, Bible-believing family and, as I understood it, being gay didn’t fit into any of those paradigms. In the months (and years) that followed, my faith faltered, and I questioned the beliefs about God and the Bible I had leaned on since I was a child. Coming to terms with this new reality was a challenge—and an invitation—to make room for many things along the way: the inevitability of uncertainty, hope in the midst of loss, awkward and tough conversations, an expanding faith, and a greater understanding of God’s love.
“Love Makes Room” comes out May 11, 2021 on Broadleaf Books.
